Voice termination for conversational business calling, U.S. and Canada

Koda Voice provides outbound voice termination to the United States and Canada over SIP. Your phone system or platform sends the call; Koda signs it under its own STIR/SHAKEN Service Provider Code and routes it onward to the called party's carrier. Answer-seizure ratio, call duration and SIP response codes are monitored per customer and per route.

Monitored per customer, per route

  • Answer-seizure ratio (ASR) answered ÷ attempts
  • Average call duration (ACD) mean answered-call length
  • SIP response codes 4xx/5xx/6xx by cause
  • Short-duration share calls ending within seconds
  • Call setup time INVITE to ringing

Scope

What Koda terminates and where

Voice termination is the carrier service that carries an outbound call from your phone system or platform to the called party's carrier and completes it. Origination is the inbound direction, which Koda provides through local phone numbers; both ride the same SIP trunk.

Koda terminates calls to the United States and Canada. The service is built for conversational business calling: live, person-to-person calls such as sales conversations, customer follow-up, appointment confirmations and support callbacks.

Koda Voice LLC is registered with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) as an interconnected and non-interconnected VoIP provider. The identifiers a vetting team checks are public: its FCC Registration Number (FRN), USAC Form 499 Filer ID, Operating Company Number (OCN) assigned by NECA, and a listing in the FCC Robocall Mitigation Database (RMD). The Trust Center lists each one with a link to its issuing registry.

Interconnection

How does traffic reach Koda? SIP delivery, authentication and codecs

Traffic reaches Koda over a standard SIP trunk from your phone system, contact platform or software product; no proprietary client is involved.

  • Signalling SIP over UDP, TCP or TLS.
  • Media RTP, with SRTP on TLS trunks.
  • Authentication IP allow-list or SIP digest credentials.
  • Codecs G.711 as the baseline; the interconnection sheet lists the full codec and DTMF set.
  • Calling number A number your business is authorized to use; that authorization sets the attestation level.

The full specification and the network operations center (NOC) contact are on the Network page; a Koda engineer reviews your configuration on a test trunk before production.

Quality

How does Koda monitor route quality?

Koda monitors route quality per customer and per route from the first production call, reading the measures below together.

Metric What it measures What a change points to
Answer-seizure ratio (ASR) Answered calls as a share of attempts One route: the route. One customer on every route: that customer's numbers or traffic.
Average call duration (ACD) Mean length of answered calls Falling ACD with steady ASR: called parties hang up early, usually audio quality or caller-ID labeling.
SIP response codes Final response per attempt (486, 503, 603) Rising 503s: a capacity or routing fault. Rising 603s: the destination carrier is rejecting the calls.

These readings decide when a route is held back or a trouble ticket is opened with the upstream carrier for that route, and they warn early when calling numbers are being labeled; why calls get flagged explains what terminating carriers look at.

Billing

How are calls billed? Increments explained with a worked example

Carriers state billing increments as initial/subsequent seconds. 6/6 bills in 6-second blocks from the first second; 60/60 bills a 60-second minimum, then whole minutes; 1/1 bills exact seconds. Each call rounds up, so the increment changes a call's cost without changing the rate.

A 62-second call under three increments
Increment Arithmetic Billed
1/1 62 rounded up to the next second 62 s
6/6 62 rounded up to the next multiple of 6 66 s
60/60 62 rounded up to the next multiple of 60 120 s

For this call, 60/60 bills 1.8 times the seconds 6/6 bills. The gap is widest on short calls, such as a call that is answered and ended within a few seconds. Koda's rate deck and order form state the increment, rounding and any minimum for each route next to the rate; the billing-increments guide works through more examples.

Vetted traffic

What traffic does Koda accept? Vetting and acceptable use

A route is only as clean as the traffic sharing it. Koda vets every customer before the first call and keeps monitoring afterwards.

  • Accepted: conversational business calling

Live, person-to-person calls: sales conversations, customer follow-up, appointment confirmations, support callbacks and prospecting conversations from a business that can show who it is and why it calls.

  • Not accepted

Prerecorded or artificial-voice calls without required consent, spoofed caller ID, telephone solicitations outside 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. at the called party's local time (47 CFR § 64.1200(c)(1)), and traffic pumping.

Under FCC rules (47 CFR § 64.6305), a provider may accept calls directly from a domestic voice service provider only if that provider is listed in the RMD. Koda Voice is listed. Every customer passes a Know-Your-Customer (KYC) review before the first call, and a customer that is itself a voice service provider must show its own RMD listing. The robocall-mitigation summary and the acceptable-use policy have the rules and remedies.

Call signing

How are calls signed? STIR/SHAKEN under Koda's own Service Provider Code

Koda Voice is an authorized STIR/SHAKEN service provider with the STI Policy Administrator (STI-PA), iconectiv, under Service Provider Code 583H, and holds an STI certificate from an approved STI Certification Authority. Calls originated on Koda's network are signed under that code, not a reseller's certificate.

Attestation level follows the STIR/SHAKEN framework, ATIS-1000074: A when the customer is verified and authorized to use the calling number, B when the customer is verified but number authorization cannot be confirmed, C otherwise. Numbers Koda provisions to you, or numbers you can show you hold, make A attestation possible. Details: the STIR/SHAKEN page and the attestation-levels guide.

Onboarding

How to start: onboarding and interconnection steps

Onboarding is engineer-to-engineer and starts with the KYC review. Koda is a new carrier with a clean network and intends to keep it that way.

  1. 01

    Describe your traffic

What sends the calls, where they terminate, expected volume and the business behind them. The carrier KYC guide lists what to have ready.

  2. 02

Receive the interconnection sheet and rate deck

SIP addresses, authentication, codecs and headers; rates, increments and any minimums per route.

  3. 03

    Configure and test

Set up the trunk by IP allow-list or SIP digest, then place test calls with a Koda engineer on the line.

  4. 04

    Go to production

Monitoring is on from the first call. Add numbers, destinations and capacity as your traffic history builds.

Who it is for

  • Real-estate teams holding prospecting conversations from local numbers, with calling-hour awareness built in.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is voice termination?

Voice termination is the carrier service that carries an outbound call from a business phone system or software platform to the called party's carrier and completes it. Origination is the inbound direction. Koda Voice terminates calls to the United States and Canada over SIP.

What billing increment does Koda Voice use?

Billing increments for Koda Voice routes are stated on the rate deck and order form next to the per-minute rate for each destination. The arithmetic is the same for any carrier: a 62-second call bills as 66 seconds under 6/6 and as 120 seconds under 60/60.

Will my outbound calls be signed with STIR/SHAKEN, and under whose certificate?

Calls originated on Koda's network are signed under Koda Voice's own Service Provider Code, 583H, with an STI certificate from an approved STI Certification Authority. Attestation follows the STIR/SHAKEN framework: A when Koda has verified you and your authorization to use the number, B when you are verified but the number cannot be confirmed, C otherwise.

What does Koda Voice monitor on my termination traffic?

Koda Voice monitors answer-seizure ratio, average call duration, SIP response codes, short-duration share and call setup time, per customer and per route, from the first production call. The readings spot route faults, warn when calling numbers are being labeled, and keep traffic inside the acceptable-use policy.

Who uses voice termination from Koda Voice?

Voice termination from Koda Voice serves three kinds of buyer: software platforms that need a licensed carrier behind their product, contact operations that run inbound and conversational outbound calling, and real-estate teams holding prospecting conversations with local numbers. Each shares the same trait: live, person-to-person business calls placed by an identifiable company.
